DELIVER PRINT READY FILES CONFIDENTLY
We appreciate quality print-ready files. While not a requirement, following pre-flight procedures adds value to how your project is handled and streamlines the delivery of your job.
Use this checklist to get your print materials delivered faster! (download pdf here):
Artwork
- Extend all artwork and images at least .125” beyond the finished size.
- Convert all logos or graphics to outlines if created in vector programs.
- Ensure no overflowing text/images on the pasteboard.
- Position and link all images correctly.
- Keep live type and critical images at least .2” from the trimmed edge.
Fonts
- Include, embed, or outline all fonts.
- Use only the fonts intended for output.
Color
- Convert RGB colors to CMYK; specify Pantone colors as spot colors.
- Convert all PMS swatches printed in CMYK to CMYK values.
- Resolve duplicate PMS swatches. (e.g., PMS 289C, 289U, 289CV); Coated (C) vs. Uncoated (U).
- Delete unused PMS color swatches.
- Ensure all black text is 100% Black, not CMYK Black (Registration).
- Specify large black solids and backgrounds as a Rich Black mix.
- Identify varnishing and special treatment areas as spot colors, if needed.
- Maintain appropriate total ink density based on stock type. 300% coated, 280% uncoated, 250% newsprint.
Page Specs and Final Review
- Ensure document dimensions are correct for printing, folding, and trimming.
- Include trim, fold, and registration marks.
- Check overprint settings.
- Supply all pages as single pages, not spreads.
- Save finished artwork as a press-ready PDF with correct pagination.
- Proofread and double-check all documents before submission, using tools like Grammarly for efficiency.
